Donetsk, Lugansk, Kiev - Ukraine 2014
In Donetsk, Russian supporters march to the prosecutor’s office chanting “Odessa we won’t forgive,” in support to the families of the 40 pro-Russian victims of the May 2 clashes. The regular Ukrainian police agree to protesters’ demands in order to avoid destruction by the angry crowd.
In Kiev, the May 9 “Victory Day” celebrations symbolizing soviet triumph over fascism are cancelled for the first time since the Second World War. A parade of pro-Russian supporters defy the order and march to the WWII memorial obelisk. Ukrainian police slowed them down in order to keep a buffer between them and a pro-Ukrainian crowd.
